KARLA SPORMANN, CEO/President and Founder
An architecture and design buff, Karla has combined her penchant for design with her passion for publishing by building more than 30 custom communication programs. As president, she marries her eye for compelling design with a proven ability to turn creative ideas into sound business strategy. The results are programs that attract diverse audiences and achieve measurable results.
Before starting Tendo, Karla ran the U.S. operation of a London-based custom publishing firm where she directed marketing communications strategy and content programs for Apple, Isuzu, and Microsoft. Prior to her custom publishing career, Karla served as publisher of several leading technology industry publications, including Dr. Dobb's Journal and PC Magazine demographic editions. In addition, she played a leading role in developing customized advertorial programs designed to support new product launches for industry leaders such as IBM.
Karla holds a BA in Advertising from Michigan State University and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. ![]()
JOHN KOVACEVICH, Vice President, Marketing Services
Whether he is developing communication strategy for Tendo clients or popping up on TV (an actor, he appears in movies and commercials from time to time), John always looks for interesting ways to engage an audience. As vice president, marketing services, John works with clients to help them connect more deeply with their customers.
John previously served as editorial director at Tendo, editing Informix Magazine and directing content development for the 3,000-page Cisco iQ website. John has led marketing communications efforts for numerous non-profit organizations and educational institutions, including United Way of San Diego, Santa Clara University, and BATS Improv Theatre. And you may have seen him at your company orientation session: he's appeared in more than two dozen industrial training films for companies such as Oracle, Microsoft, Macy's, IBM, CNET, Siemens Medical, Advanced Micro Devices, Wells Fargo, SBC Communications, Intuit, Genentech, and Gillette.

CHRISTINE ZENDER, Vice President, Creative Services
Christine's covered a wide variety of subject matter in her career, but there's a common thread running through each publication and project: Enthusiasm. Passion and enthusiasm for a subjectwhatever the subjectare the secret ingredients to creating compelling, successful content. As vice president, creative services, Christine's experience in program strategy and development give her the unique ability to translate client goals and objectives into products that achieve tangible results.
Before joining Tendo, Christine served as senior director of content for AllBusiness, a website dedicated to providing solutions to small businesses. Prior to her work at AllBusiness, she was the founding managing editor for Ziff-Davis' Internet Business, an early leader in the Internet small business space.
Christine received her BA in English from the University of Southern California. ![]()

Tendo comes from a Latin root meaning to grow and/or to aspire. We like thatwe think that growing and aspiring are some of the core values here at Tendo: We're always looking for newer, better ways to help our clients connect and engage their audience.

Tendo was founded in January 1999 by Karla Spormann and Celia Canfield.
