Tendo Appoints John Kovacevich VP of Marketing Services

San Francisco, CA May 17, 2007

Tendo Communications, an innovator in customer communications and custom media, today announced John Kovacevich has been named the company's vice president of marketing services. With his 15 years of marketing communications and management experience, Kovacevich will lead Tendo's marketing efforts and provide project leadership to Tendo clients.

Kovacevich is a familiar face at Tendo. Before leaving in 2002 to serve as executive director for a non-profit arts organization, Kovacevich served as Tendo’s editorial director. In this role, he led a number of projects, serving as editor of “Informix” magazine and directing content development for the 3,000-page Cisco iQ website.

“John’s marketing expertise and range of client experience add real depth to Tendo.  I know our clients will benefit from his perspective and knowledge,” says Karla Spormann, Tendo president and co-founder.

Between his Tendo stints, Kovacevich was the executive director of BATS Improv Theatre in San Francisco and performed regularly with the company. As executive director, he was responsible for strategic planning, financial oversight, theater management, grant writing, marketing, and public relations. Under his leadership, the organization saw a 40 percent increase in annual revenue.

Kovacevich also took on roles outside of BATS, including a supporting turn in “Pursuit of Happyness” and starring roles in dozens of industrial training films for companies such as CNET, Genentech, IBM, Intuit, Macy's, Microsoft, and Oracle.

Prior to joining Tendo in 2000, Kovacevich spent eight years providing marketing communications leadership for a variety of non-profit and educational institutions, including United Way of San Diego, Marymount College, and Santa Clara University.

“The common thread in my past work,” says Kovacevich, “is that I quickly identify the challenge, articulate a vision for how to improve operations, implement the plan, and leave each organization stronger than when I started. I’m looking forward to putting my skills to work for Tendo’s clients.”

Kovacevich graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in communications from Loyola Marymount University.
